{ monday: making me smile... }

The awe inspiring Petersham Nurseries based in Richmond Surrey, UK.

I discovered their charming and beautifully designed web site through a recent post on House Martin and have been fantasizing about a rendezvous across the pond ever since. The dreamy photography on the site is plentiful and is almost as good as being there in person.

Let's have a look-see, shall we?

The on site café/restaurant and teahouse seem to be as much a draw as the nurseries themselves (if not more so).

Set amongst the nurseries' old greenhouses and conservatories, the café is filled with charming mismatched garden furniture, centerpieces in full bloom, and 'many a ravishing household accents'.

Fresh ingredients for the simple, exquisitely prepared food is sourced from local suppliers and snipped right from their onsite kitchen gardens.

For all you foodies out there, Skye Gyngell, the famed chef at Petersham, has authored a lovely book, A Year in My Kitchen, which looks quite delightful–if for nothing else, than the beautiful photos that fill it. She also has a regular food column in the Sunday Independent.

A Year in my Kitchen

Ah yes, I can imagine myself spending many a lazy afternoons in this heavenly setting.

Until then...their lovely site will provide endless inspiration for my own little backyard oasis, which is starting to show signs that Spring is near...

Cheerio!

Just and FYI...I read that Skye often contributes to an Australian pub called "Delicious"...not sure if you're familiar with it.
