My eight-year-old daughter is a list maker, a prolific note-taker...a journalist in the making. As a result, she's developed an insatiable appetite for writing supplies. She is especially fond of the the classics: composition books, pink pearl erasers, and made in the USA, No. 2 pencils, which is why I know she would love the Field Notes site as much as I do.

Inspired by classic agricultural memo books and ornate pocket ledgers, their signature product--the Field Notes memo book--has inspired a cult-like following. It's easy to see why. I spent, ahem, the better part of an hour exploring their old school product line, blog, and idea files.

As I was reflecting upon last year and planning for 2009, I realized that I've become a little 

l-a-z-y with handwritten correspondence. Is it possible I've become too reliant on e-mail? How disappointing...I used to really enjoy writing and sending hand written cards and notes. Don't we all love to receive a special little surprise in the mail? 

I think starting the new year off with some fun and fabulous stationery {one of my obsessions} is all I need to get me back on track.. These are but a few of the many I have bookmarked...

I am truly in awe of this week's featured blog, A Field Journal, created by the multi-talented, Livy–a university student, who is currently studying history and art history. Livy's passion for items with a past and keen eye for great design are captured in her beautifully composed photography, thoughtful and unique DIY tutorials, and inspired approach to entertaining. As if that weren't enough, Livy has designed her own line of out-of-this-world paper goods, which is available through her etsy shop, Natural Historie.

{ letteria: how do I love thee? }

I first discovered the letterpress loveliness of designer Christa Schumacher-Schwarz, of Letteria, through her captivating photos on flickr. I was immediately drawn to the clean, lustrous feel of her images, which so eloquently capture the Swiss influence of her Zweidlen, (near Zurich) Switzerland based studio. 

To be honest, you don't have to do much for me to go ga-ga over letterpress goods-I love just about anything letterpress.  I'm sure you'll agree, however, that the cool sophistication of Christa's designs is extraordinary. 

Christa compares the experience of starting her endeavor and acquiring and using her letterpress for the first time to 'winning the lottery'. { Lucky us that she went for it! }
