{ a day in the life... }

Yesterday we had no commitments or obligations...we didn't
have to be anywhere--such a rarity. Typically, we would see this as an opportunity to dive right into our never ending to do list and tackle some household chores.

Instead,  we packed a picnic, grabbed some friends, and headed to Apple Hill--an association of 50+ Apple Farms nestled in the nearby foothills and an idyllic spot to sample the Fall season at its best.

A late season freeze at blossom time meant the pickings were, well...a bit slim. The face painting, train ride, and hay maze, however, more than made up for it. Little one will tell you the highlight for her was playing 'big sis' for a day to our friends' four year old twin girls--what a treat!

Insider's Guide:
If you live in or near Northern California, Apple Hill makes for a perfect day trip, or better yet, a weekend away. Don't miss:

The kiddie train {and apple pumpkin bread and butter} at
The wineries--some of California's best--scattered throughout the area.
My favorites: Boeger and Lava Cap
The fresh, made from scratch, sweet cider donuts found at
Rainbow Orchards.
