{ hunting season... }

image courtesy of The Sacramento Antique Faire

This last weekend was the Sacramento Antique Faire which is held near our neighborhood the second Sunday of each month. I haven't been able to get to it the last couple of months, so I was ecstatic that we made in back into town in time for me to sneak over there for a couple of hours with my little one {who, fortunately, enjoys going as much as I do}. One of us usually comes away with a little treasure from the day and this month's faire proved to be just as fruitful. Since I was not able to take pics of the event itself {hubby had the memory card for my camera}, I thought I would share a few of my lucky finds with you.

I was thrilled to find these...two complete sets of vintage curtains perfectly preserved in their original packaging. The colors are perfect for what I have planned for the great
studio/office makeover of 2008 {more on that later, I promise}.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but along with all the pink there is a wonderful retro orange giving the curtains the hint of funkiness I was after--love them!

Peeking out from the bottom of a pile of fabrics in the same booth was the fringe from this lively pink and orange chenille spread. As soon as I spotted it {and started drooling all over it}, the dealer offered me a package deal with the curtains, so really...how could I resist. I haven't decided if I'll keep it as is, or perhaps repurpose it into fun cushion covers for a couple of vintage patio chairs I found last summer.

Grabbed this adorable thermos immediately upon seeing it.

Then, just as my daughter was explaining that her legs were getting "wobbly" and we needed to leave, we stumbled upon this charming grade school text book from the 50s. The illustrations throughout the book are irresistible and little one is so excited to try some of the simple experiments that are detailed with step by step instructions.

My creation

Who would've thought that $22 and these quirky little finds could bring so much joy??? Really...I was grinning ear to ear the rest of the afternoon.  Do you have any favorite hunting spots? Do tell.

  6. Great finds and a great day. I especially love how the thermos looks all sweet and inoocent and iced-tea-ish, but may actually be mint-julep-ish!

    I'm supposed to go to the Farmington Antiques Show this Saturday if it doesn't rain, hopefully I'll have as good a time as you did!
